Restrict Friends on Facebook: You may need to keep some of your Facebook posts private, especially when you are not very familiar with all of you Facebook stories. There has been so many horrific stories of people being reprimanded for some of their posts that seemed controversial to some other people. This article is designed to show you how to restrict a friend or friends from seeing some of your Facebook posts.
How to Restrict Friends on Facebook
Using a Phone or Tablet
- Open the Facebook app, it is located in your app drawer and log in.
- Go to your friend’s profile. This is done either by tapping Friends on your own profile, or by typing a friend’s name into the Search box at the top of the screen.
- Tap Friends. It’s beneath their profile photo.
- Tap Edit Friend Lists.
- Select Restricted. A check mark will appear next to “Restricted.” Now that your friend is on the Restricted list, they can only see posts you’ve marked as Public, and those in which they are tagged.
- Once you have added a friend to this list, they wouldn't receive a notification
- To remove your friend from the Restricted list, return to Edit Friends Lists and tap Restricted.
Using a Computer
- Open Facebook in your browser and Log in.
- Go to your friend’s profile. You can do this by clicking Friends on your own profile, or by typing a friend’s name into the Search box at the top of the screen.
- Click Friends. It’s located next to your friend’s name at the top of the screen.
- Click Add to another list….
- Select Restricted. A checkmark will appear next to “Restricted.” Now that your friend is on the Restricted list, they would only be able to see posts you’ve marked as Public, and those in which they are tagged. He/She will not be notified that they’ve been added to this list.
- To view your Restricted list, click Friends Lists on the left side of the screen (under the “Explore” heading), then select Restricted.
- If you need to remove people from the list, click Manage List at the top right corner of the list, then select Edit List.
