View your face book Pokes: Before the advent of dating apps, Facebook poke was a means users used to get the attention of each other. For many, it was considered a form of harmless flirtation, and an expression of interest.
The recipient of the poke will know you’re interested in some way, but nothing beyond that. They might respond if they are interested, they might not. But, regardless, poking was a way for a user to let their interest be known.
As Facebook grew, the poking function began loosing its usefulness, until the Facebook “poke became ridiculously ironic to its original use where people would “poke” each other for the sake of being funny. The Facebook 'poke' function, is no longer common, and is rarely used these days.
